GROINCHURN was born in March 1994. The band recorded two demos, "Human Filth", and "Every dog has it's Decay". Both tapes were well accepted throughout the underground and the band was made offers for various vinyl deals. As well as some split 7"s, 20 minutes of GROINCHURN stuff was featured on the "Four ways to Misery" CD alongside NYCTOPHOBIC, WINTER OF DISCONTENT and CAESAREAN SECTION.

The year after the release of that CD, the band released their self-financed debut disc, "Sixtimesnine" and so far over 1500 copies have been sold, as well as it being licensed in Lithuania, Czech Republic, Poland and the USA (The USA one as a 10" picture disc vinyl special edition). It wil now also be distributed by SPV for Europe. A support slot on the "Mortal Memories" tour in Europe with KRABATHOR (Czech Republic), and SANITY'S DAWN (Germany) was organised with the help of Morbid Records. 18 Shows in 3 weeks across 5 countries in Europe. While on the tour, GROINCHURN signed to Morbid Records, Germany, for the next CD, "Fink" which will be out in October 1998.

Back home in SA, we played on the "South African Slaughter" tour, bringing KRABATHOR to South Africa -The first international metal act to grace our shores in 5 years, and adding even more shows to the long list of gigs GROINCHURN has done in South Africa

The band is, was and always will be: Christo Bester, vocals and bass; Mark Chapman, guitar and backing vocals; and Sergio Christina, drums.
