Biography
Solarisis was formed in October 1995 in Enschede, The Netherlands by Gijs van Ouwerkerk. It has been a one-man band from the start, by conscious decision. March 1996 saw the release of the project's first work, Ecliptica, a 6 track demo of melodic death metal which was primarily sold amongst family and friends. Its successor, Illumination, followed soon after in October 1996, displaying a more atmospheric style of modern death metal. This demo was exposed to a wider audience and gained Solarisis a humble underground reputation through some very positive reviews. Now, after a delay of about one year and a half due to having to find a way to record the new material and a label to release it, the full-length CD Holland Is Made Of Tofu is about to be released on Morbid Records, Germany. The new album contains all new songs and its variety of styles and the diversity of its influences make it nearly impossible to categorize in the pigeonholes that exist in the current metal scene. After the release of the new album, Solarisis will aim to play some European shows with the help of some session musicians.
