NYCTOPHOBIC is a Grindcore band from Germany. It was founded in August
'92, when Christophe (Guitar), Markus (Bass) and me (Tom, Drums) were looking for a
new band.With me came Stephen the singer of my old band.
A little later I came up with the idea to call the band "NYCTOPHOBIC" which lead
to several arguments, because of the name’s similarity to many other bandnames. a
little later, everybody began to like it and the band was called this way.
In June 1994 we found a second guitarplayer - Martin Hub.
In November 1994 Alex Schulze joined the band as the new vocalist. With Alex we recorded a
promo tape in June 1995.
Seven tracks were later used on the "Four Ways To Misery" Split-CD on M.M.I.
RECORDS.
That tape was also sent to several labels. As a result we signed a deal with
Germany’s finest adress in Grind -
MORBID RECORDS
In Spring 1994 two NYCTOPHOBIC releases saw the light of day : the studio 7" EP
called "Negligenced Respect" on M.M.I. RECORDS & a Split live 7" EP on
LULL REX with the cultgrinders from Belgium, AGATHOCLES. Vocalist Alexander Schulze and
former member guitarist Christophe left the band In December 1995. Markus Bugert (Guitar)
and Christian "Zimbo" Zimmermann (Vocals) joined the band. Both fit musically
and personally very well and so the Line-up is more powerful than ever.
The actual line-up is:
Zimbo (Vocals), Martin Hub (Guitar), Markus Bugert (Guitar), Markus Zorn (Bass) and
Tom Will (Drums).
In May 1996 we recorded our Debut-CD entitled "WAR CRIMINAL VIEWS". This CD was
released in early October '96 by MORBID RECORDS and The reactions on "WAR CRIMINAL
VIEWS" have been very positive.
In November '96 T & M RECORDS released a Split 7" EP with german Crust-Grinders
ENTRAILS MASSACRE. On our side we used 4 tracks which also appeared on the Debut-CD (But
with different sound and line-up).
In December 1997 we've toured Europe. GRIND OVER EUROPE II also featured American
cult-bands EXHUMED & HEMDALE. This tour brought us to Germany,
Belgium, the Netherlands & the Czech Republic. The tour was quite successful for
NYCTOPHOBIC.
In February 1998 we have entered the studio again and recorded 3 new tracks for a split EP
with EXHUMED. This EP will be released in summer '98 on REVENGE PRODUCTIONS
